Uxbridge Huck Finn Youth Fishing Days

All season long starting April 27th

Uxbridge Huck Finn Youth Fishing Days returns this spring on a reduced scale. This year there will be no official contest taking place, instead, families will now be able to fish at Elgin Pond at their leisure all season long, starting April 27th, with the chance to win pop-up prizes! Elgin Pond will be stocked with 500 Brook trout for all the fishing fun, courtesy of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Keep an eye out for Boomer the Bass on May 4th, 11th and 25th, as he will be out and about surprising lucky anglers with prizes sponsored by Canadian Tire Uxbridge! Prizes will be distributed at random to those fishing at Elgin Pond. There is no age limitation or registration required to qualify for a prize.

Fishing season officially opens April 27th, and we ask the public to refrain from fishing in the pond before this date. Anyone 18 and older is required to obtain a fishing license to participate. Learn more about fishing licenses here: Fishing licence (Canadian residents) | ontario.ca

James Gray

Live at The Second Wedge
3:00pm - 5:00pm
.
We're excited to welcome back James Gray!
About James:
A unique finger style guitarist, with a vocal that is hauntingly beautiful, Gray, often accompanied by a rather droll, humorous stage patter, immerses himself in each and every song with a soulfulness and attack that is infectious and disarming. With a broad grin and good natured chuckle, Gray will often smile into the microphone and state matter of factly that he wants you to remember who he is.
“James Gray is a dynamic singer/songwriter with a spirited, compelling sound that speaks to us all. With a stage presence that commands your attention his music is expressive and soulful. He garners followers wherever he performs. James is a musical talent not to be missed!”

Calling all experienced and budding artists and creatives: Join us for our Drink & Draw sketch jam every other Thursday evening!

This informal gathering is open to those aged 19+ interested in starting or maintaining sketching or drawing practice, for fun and creative growth. (More into stitching, making or writing? Come on over - you can practice your craft among friends here too!)
Bring your own supplies. Drop-ins are welcome!
About your host:
From time to time, John Allen is seen backed into a corner sketching at the Wedge. He's an avid sketchbook keeper always having several going at any one time. He sees it akin to an artist's physical training program.
Designing for TV/film & new media demanded him to swap his pens for a mouse, and despite his passion for staying current with the latest digital tools, he maintains the practice of hand sketching for a variety of reasons, not least for the pure joy of it.

This is a great opportunity to declutter and find a new home for your unwanted items, while also picking up something you may want or need for free.

Please ensure items whether new or used, are safe and meet current regulatory requirements. It is important to only place items that are in good condition. Damaged items should be discarded. The Region is not responsible for quality of items placed out for the Curbside Giveaway Day.

Calling all experienced and budding artists and creatives: Join us for our Drink & Draw sketch jam every other Thursday evening!
For our May 2 evening, we'll also be celebrating the opening of our latest art show, featuring the drawings of Jay Dart, with live music by Jeff Adams.

Curbside Giveaway Day

Saturday May 4

7:00am - 7:00pm

Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in cooperation with the local municipalities, where residents place unwanted items in good condition—clearly marked FREE—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Giveaway Day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.

By using this community Events in Uxbridge page, you acknowledge and accept that the information provided here is for informational purposes only and that we do not take responsibility for any inaccuracies or unexpected changes related to the events.
